Wow!  I'm surprised .  Figured most places would charge less for cash payers.   Especially where the insured usually have a sizeable cash deductible that has to be met prior to the insurance kicks in

Might be worth calling First MRI at EMMC.  Strange, but they are not part of EMMC.  They have new machines and can quote you a price on the phone.  They were less than half what I would've paid where I work.  Go figure.
I called them first and they told me they signed with the Insurance Companies not to accept cash clients only Insured

Awesome Buddy!

Glad you found a cheaper rate! Imaging cost are outrageous...but so is the price tag on the equipment they use, along with the sources needed to power the devices! I used to bitch about it as well... when you know they can, and will do it for 800 but charge insurance 3k+!  That's our healthcare robbing our insurance companies, thus making it impossible for most self employed workers to not be able to afford the premiums!  Which is the problem to begin with.

After a few hours on the computer and phone I learned that St.Josephs gives a 49% discount for cash clients AND an additional 20% for paying at time of service!! I need 2 MRI's, Thoracic Spine (upper back t6,7,8)massive pain and burning, and Lumbar - my right hip ends up 1" higher then the left forcing pressure on the left sciatic nerve and I stand/walk weird. The Lumbar is $949 and the Thoracic is $1713 a total of $2662. After the 69% ($1837 off) it's $825. Then it will have to be read by X-ray Dr. (not sure of that cost). Once again I cannot thank you all enough   :punk:

I would like to thank all of you that have helped out. I can't even begin to explain how much it means to me what all of you have done. I talked with the nurse today and started answering the safety questions. the only problem was I weld and have gotten metal in my eye. they're getting that info and may want to check my eye again before they turn the magnits on!

We're doing a benefit auction on facebook for Cain. There are pics of items for auction to help him with medical expenses he needs to get his back pain under control. To bid on an item please post a dollar amount below the pic of the item you want. Bidding will end Friday February 17. We will give Tom the money raised at the club meeting on February 19. If you have an item to donate please get me a pic to add to the album. Some of us will be doing cash donations also. Anyone who wants to help please contact me. There has been some generous bids and donations already! Thanks everyone!
