I found Camp CaPella on Google Earth. It's on Phillips Lake in Dedham. The Holden address must be an office or the owner's address.

That address comes up on my gps and google maps on the lake but you are right it is actually in dedham

Hopefully we can jam our Jeeps onto or through a snowbank. We'll just have to get 1 Jeep to pull us out. We have to be sure that we don't run over a dock.

It took awhile for the decision to be made, but Dunkin Donuts is going to come through with hot chocolate and cups for the event tomorrow.  Nice!

For those that want to help getting Camp Capella set up and to cut the hole in the ice they are getting started at 8:30.
Those that are volunteering with us to provide hot chocolate and popcorn to people we will start setting up at 10:00.
There may not be enough parking for everyone who is volunteering but we will shuttle as needed.
Anyone who is coming to watch the event please park at the Lucerne Inn and take the shuttle.

Camp Capella is located at 8 Pearl Point Rd., Holden ME 04429

Lucerne Inn is located at 2517 Main Rd., Dedham ME 04429

There will probably be a get together afterwards for dinner.

So I had a sponsor lined up. We never talked about how much he would sponsor me for. I talked with the owner today and was give $25. Now I know all together PV4WD has donated over $300. I dont think its fair to jump in with there t-shirt when you guys have given more. Thoughts?

Whatever you think Greg. Did you make any commitments with him to wear the shirt?

There will be some parking at the camp for those that are there early helping out. We may have to do some shuttling ourselves if we run out of room.

According to their poster, we have to park at the Lucerne Inn and take a shuttle because there isn't any parking. Just wondering if that's the plan.

Laurie Turner from Camp CaPella asked me today if we would also be willing to sell popcorn at the polar dip? They would supply the popper and all supplies. She needs someone to pop, bag and sell.

So I just got off the phone with Laurie Turner the Executive Director of Camp CaPella. She is very excited to have us help out. She thinks the hot coco tent is a great idea. She also said something about a table with chili that members might be able to help out with. I told her I have no idea how many people will show. There is limited parking the day of the event, but could make room for a few Jeeps down there, or if people feel safe, they can bring them right out on the ice. Overall I think this is looking like a great event for us.

Camp CaPella Polar Dip 2/26/17
« Reply #1 on: December 30, 2016, 09:45:22 AM »
If anyone was at the Holiday Party/ Meeting, I brought up the Polar Dip for Camp Capella. The date has been set for February 26. 12pm-3pm. I had a hard time getting ahold of anyone from the camp but did finally get an e-mail back.

Message:
Hello. My name is Greg Ireland. I am a member of a local Jeep club that would like to help out with your polar plunge this winter. I will be diving in. One thing my group came up with was selling hot chocolate and donating all the proceeds to your camp. If you have something else we might be able to help out with please let us know. As I said. I plain on diving in and as much info as we could get would be great.

-Greg-

Good Morning Greg,

Thank you so much for reaching out to us!!  I am sorry I did not respond sooner but I was on vacation before the holiday.

I am going to pass your email onto our new Executive Director.  Her name is Laurie Turner and she will be better able to answer your questions.  Thank you so very much for wanting to help out!

Heidi L. Riggs
Camp Director
Camp CaPella
 (207)843-5104 Camp Phone
(207)944-8912 Cell Phone

Greg-

Wonderful to see your email!   I am enjoying a couple days with my family this week but would love to connect early next week?   I think a cocoa sale is a great idea!

Laurie J. Turner
 Executive Director
 Camp CaPella
 207.478.7413

So that is the info I have up to this point. I will be diving in and trying to collect pledges. If I get a dollar from every member that would be well over the $100 goal per diver.
It seamed there was a lot of interest from members to help out and I would love to see a good showing. If anything guys, you get to see me in a lot of pain jumping into a big hole in the ice.
