Good grief lol, you really did a number on that thing. Beefing up my steering is on the list. Surprised I didn't screw mine up too since the Tj tierod is about as beefy as a pencil. If you can't find anyone up here to straighten the draglink Mom's Bf could do it at his machine shop. It's in searsmont so it's a bit of a drive though
Aaron I went with the Iron Rock tie rod. It is solid bar drilled and tapped to take regular TRE's ... VERY stout and haven't bent it yet I have had it about 5 years on 2 different Jeeps and have had to replace the ends once.

V8 ZJ linkage is a cheap bolt in upgrade.  Its not Currie or anything, but it is quite a bit stronger than the stupid thin TJ linkage.

Ya that's most likely what it will get unless I'm in the mood to custom fab something. Certainly have the access to the tools to do that. We'll see

At first I read that you didn't have access to tools, and I was like, aren't you MET?  you have the whole MTL...  but then I realized I read it wrong.

Yep lol I am and do have that access. My mom's boyfriend also co owns a machine shop with his father. They have a giant shear, break, tubing benders, mills, lathes. Pretty much anything a gearhead, engineer, jeeper like me could ask for lol

So apparently when I bent my 1 ton 1/4" wall drag link on that stump or when we tried straightening with a snatch block and Rockman's jeep attached to mine for extra weight to no avail, the tapered shaft of the rod end either bent or wallowed out the steering knuckle and I could wobble the entire thing around in the knuckle.  I couldn't tighten or loosen the nut with pry bars or floor jacks (or straighten the link) so I cut it off with a wheel.  I then noticed that my tire and/or wheel has worn through the braided brake line in 3 or 4 places and is now working on the inner hose - awesome.  I ordered a new rod end and a flip sleeve.  I'll still the knuckle out to 3/4" - anyone have a 3/4" bit with a step down shank? - and then put the new sleeve in from the top putting my drag link about an inch higher and correcting a little angle issue while fixing the bust.  I'll also be dropping off my drag link to be straightened out somewhere - any ideas?

This would be a great thing to let our state leaders know about as well.  Trish, if you could pass along to your contacts at the state of Maine what a great thing NH has put together at their state park.  Maine has plenty of room and interest in something like this.

The sunset in this test trail is coming up soon and the State will be voting on whether or not to keep it open or not.  If they keep it open, they get to also cut more trails.

Club leadership should contact NWOR club leadership and offer to write a letter of support to the club or the State or both.

I also hit my oil pan for the second time. A better belly skid/oil pan skid combo needs to be moved up on the list I think. She's going to get a bit of a makeover this winter. I've wheeled the crap out of her this summer and she certainly deserves it.

Fun ride. It can be described with 4 words, rocks and more rocks. Checked out the bottom of the TJ and there's plenty of white rock dust. Everything but the tie-rod got hit, CAs, oil pan and steering box. It's the rocks that you didn't see that caused problems. One guy with a small pickup got serious damage on both sides and there was 2 bent tie-rods. Fun place to play, great pics and vids. A weekend in that area would be fun.

Awesome pics and videos guys! I would say that was one of the best trips / trails I've been on to date. Couldn't have asked to do it with better people either. It did start out a little slow but that turned out to not really be a bad thing as I always enjoy chatting with you guys in the woods. Really well designed and staffed park and trail system in my opinion. Something Maine really needs to look into doing. I already can't wait to go back and will definitly plan on camping and utilizing more of their park and town. Great area all around. The Jeep did great and essentially went everywhere I pointed it. I even followed a Toyota truggy up a black trail loop (Hardest). Super long day but an awesome time!!!

We had an amazing time in NH!!! The local club, NWOR, has done an amazing job in collaboration with the state an others to create a great facility catering to the atv/utv/dirt bike/4x4 market. They have a nice camping area, a large parking lot to accommodate trailered rigs, and a great mapped out trail system. The 4x4 only trail is AWESOME!!!! Best I've wheeled since Raucsh Creek in PA!! The trail rating is very accurate with plenty of tight turns and ENDLESS ROCKS!!! Great stuff indeed! I can't wait to return with more club members and do a camp/wheel weekend. Wouldn't it be great if our state could do a place like this?

Thanks to Adam from ME4x4 for leading the ride. Also thanks to the members of NWOR for guiding and spotting for us, you folks have done an outstanding job designing and cutting these trails. Well done!!! The morning started off a little slow, with a vehicle ill equipped having a tough time of it. This gave us time to talk Jeeps and such which actually worked out just fine, being a beautiful day in the mountains of NH with friends and doing what we love. The progress continued much better after a bypass exit was made by this rig. These trails really make you choose your lines well and look forward and remembering the next set of rocks. Once again really, great stuff!!

Great day!  Left Bangor at 4:30, on the trail at 9:30-6:30, ate, back in BGR at 10:30-can't sleep now since I'm still in my Monster high.  Trails were great.  Lots of white powder on the bottoms of our Jeeps.....

Glad to hear it Larry.  Are you staying Sat on the way back or just driving through?

Here is the trail map NWOR has made for "Run to the Hills"

We have 2 from Pine State Krawlers so far and Three from ME4x4.  A rig count will be given on Wednesday.  We are all set to meet up at the Circle K in Berlin for fuel and lunch at 8:00.  If you wish to meet us at the park that is fine.  They may be asking us all to park at the alternate lot down the park road.  I'll check in on Wednesday and look forward to an awesome day in the woods!

I will most likely have my truck and the jeep on a tow bar. So no trailer but two rigs

We'll be leaving Bangor Saturday at 5:00am from Dunkin Donuts at the intersection of Hammond and Odlin Rd.  We are currently planning on a one day trip but might do a sleep over.
