Title: New place.
Post by: JeepGeek on October 24, 2015, 06:55:22 PM
So I purchased a new place. Its not jeep related so I am leaving a link to a forum on the work I am doing. Mainly the work I am doing in my new garage. Much of that will be jeep related. The garage is 2100 square feet. So I should have some room for some fun stuff.

2100 sq ft sounds nice! I have 1120 at my parents and it fills up quick. Can't wait to build a shop once I'm out of school

I plan on keeping the main garage free to do work in and use the rear for storage. We will see how long that last. As soon as I purchased it, my dad showed up with hes boat and motorcycle.

Just for you mike. I just did not want to jumble up this place with something not jeep related. But if no one has a problem with it.

Awesome! Tall enough for a lift too! Congrats Greg! That will make an awesome shop for you. Looking forward to seeing updates.

Yes. I have been pricing out a lift already. Oh craigslist. I think if I am going to spend the money. Heating it would get more use then a lift right now. The two front garage doors are in bad shape. One is 12 feet wide. The other is 10. I am not sure how tall. But its going to run a couple grand I am sure for doors. Cant think about heat until I get a drafty door taken care of.

you may want to look into a waste oil furnace ... a little pricey at first but the club could help supply your fuel needs ... gear oil and atf burn best but they will use regular #2 heating fuel as well if in a pinch ... congrats Greg on the purchase

My large garage is getting smaller by the day. So far my father has dropped off a 20 ft pontoon boat, hes Harley and one of my friends wants to store hes Camaro for the winter.

So I have been crazy busy this summer. Have not had time to do much. I did finally start to make a set of benches for the garage. My dad made this design back when he was about 24. He is an engineer so it was over built. I just modded mine to suit how tall I am. The top is made of 2x8. The legs are 2x4 recessed together. 3/4 plywood for the sides and shelfs and 1/2 ply for the doors. Still have some work to do, but a place to work on the LJ finally.

Nice.  Gotta have a work bench when you own a Jeep!
